The history following the fall of the Empire led to the rise of the First Order, inspired by real events in world history. When the First Order first appeared in the Star Wars universe, they were shrouded in mystery, but the creative minds behind the new trilogy have revealed much about the history and strategy of the Order. In time, the Imperials fell under the command of Supreme Leader Snoke and his protege Kylo Ren. The remaining Imperials regrouped in secret, building their new order with few remaining resources until they were ready to attack the New Republic. After the collapse of the Empire following the events of Return of the Jedi, the First Order grew from the remnants of the old Empire.
